Hogan Lovells has boosted its Japanese domestic patent capability with the hire of Hiroto Imai.

He arrives at the firm from Abe, Wada & Watanabe, where he served as partner.

Imai focuses on litigation services and has extensive experience of patent matters across pharmaceutical sectors, medical devices and telecommunications.

Andreas von Falck, global head of IP, media and technology at Hogan Lovells, said: "Imai’s scientific background, Japanese law general and international experience, make him a fantastic addition to our IP team.”

Yoshiki Abe, a founding partner of Abe, Wada & Watanabe, is also joining the firm. He is experienced in IP dispute resolution and cross-border transactions.
