Gowlings adds IP specialist

Canadian firm Gowlings Lafleur Henderson has hired Brian Kingwell as a partner in its intellectual property practice.

Kingwell joined the firm on 17 June and will be based in its Vancouver office.

Prior to the move, Kingwell—who is qualified both as a lawyer and as a trademark and patent agent—served as partner at Canadian IP firm Smart & Biggar.

Kingwell specialises in patent prosecution and strategin portfolio counselling in the life sciences, technology and oil and gas sectors, with a particular emphasis on biotechnology. His clients have included players from the biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical and medical devices industries.
