San Diego | 03 July 2013

Foley & Lardner LLP has appointed Marc Morley as partner in its IP and life sciences practice. He will be based in the firm’s San Diego/Del Mar office.

He joins the firm from Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear LLP.

Morley has also worked in-house as development associate at biopharmaceutical company Scios, where he was involved in the optimisation of recombinant protein expression systems, protein purification and recovery methods, process scale-up and process computer automation.

His legal practice focuses on representing technology companies, universities, research institutions and individuals in IP matters.

He obtains and manages patent portfolios covering a variety of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, clean technology, industrial and agricultural biotechnology, chemical, biology, and software and computer systems.

Morley also counsels clients on IP licensing and due diligence matters.

In a statement, Pavan Agarwal, chair of Foley & Lardner’s IP department, said: “Morley’s impressive technical background is an ideal fit for our intellectual property team, as clients looking to protect their technological developments and maximise business opportunities require deep industry knowledge from their legal counsel.”

“We are pleased to have a person of Morley’s calibre join us. His life science skills and expertise complement our highly regarded IP litigation practice both locally and nationally,” said Joe Patiño, a senior IP litigation partner in the firm’s San Diego/Del Mar office. “[His] breadth of expertise will augment our local IP life science practice and will provide an even stronger platform to expand our litigation focus.”
